I've been having problems with 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier. Trac Off Light has been coming on and off.?
The light has been coming on when I'm on the highway. When I finally slow down to first gear I am stuck in first gear. Either it will stall when I stop or I'll have to restart the car. Then everything seems fine. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

Sounds like it could be the torque converter clutch sticking in the locked postion. You should have the computer scanned for trouble codes.

I have an 02, and the only thing I can think of, is either the bands in the torque converter are failing to tighten and are worn out. I would deal w/ a transmission mechanic. Or you could replace the torqu converter yourself!! Good luck!!

your belt is hitting the crank shaft censor.buy a new belt and see if that helps.
