is there anyway i can create a signature which can display different messages depending on which user reads it?

they only kind of sig that i can think of that would change depending on who reads it, would be one that shows IP etc
one that depends on users etc, would mean reading the cookies that tells the website that a user is loged in, which involves server side scripting, and seeing as bb code is more like striped down HTML it is unlikely to be possible with out some sort of mod to the forum

No.
I do not know of any MODs that would allow you do do that. Also,BBCode is very limiting. Only if you install certain MODs that allow the use of full HTML APIs could you do that.
