broken laptop headphone jack?
i have an acer extensa 5420 laptop and the headphone jack has broken from overuse and the sensor inside thinks thats there are still headphones plugged in so it wont play sound out of my speakers...is there any programs or os codes that i can get to disable headphones? please help im going crazy!...best answer will be chosen

it being a physical problem , i doubt software will solve it, you can go to control panel sound and devices and turn all the controls off, you may have to fix the headpone jack, inside the jack you have two spring tensioned contacts that is causing the problem, you pushing the plug in has either shorted or opened those contacts, thats what needs to be fixed.

This is no sensor, it is the jack mechanism itself.
Try plugging in and out, jerking a bit until you get sound.
Try not to play around with software settings or you may really disable sound.
The other is to open pc and repair jack or at least unlock mechanism (it is normally closed), so if you broke the whole jack, you will need to join or solder the locking/mating pins.

Just buy a headphone jack and swap them out. Or call Acer's central office and complain.

The only place to disable the headphone jack is through the control panel/sounds.

No, this is strictly hardware. You will have to have the laptop opened up to have that fixed.
