Use tire PSI or Car Manual PSI?
I look at my car and on the tire, it says 44 PSI but on my manual and door jam it says 32 PSI. So which one should I use when inflate my tires?
Also how do you check your tire pressure gauge at gas station. I always estimate and never know you can check it.
Thanks

Your door jam gives the recommended inflation pressure for your particular vehicle when fitted with any tire of the correct size.
The tire says "Maximum Load ____ at 44 psi Maximum Inflation Pressure."
Which one of those sounds like a recommendation to you and which one sounds like a generic safety warning (since the tire manufacturer has no way of knowing what kind of car the tire will be mounted on)?
Always inflate tires to the VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS recommendation on the door jam. If you check the web site of the folks who made your tires they will tell you the same thing.
To check your tire pressures buy a pressure guage. They cost about $2. I've seen plenty of people "guess" and end up inflating their tires to in excess of 100 psi!!!! When the safety maximum is 44... well, you get the idea. I look at tires all day long every day. Trust me, you can not judge how inflated they are by looking at them. You need a guage.

44 is the MAXIMUM tire pressure the tire can stand. 32 is what the RECOMMENDED tire pressure is. Go with 32. You might increase the PSI if you are towing something or hauling a lot of passengers. You might also increase the PSI for better gas mileage. Conversely, lower the PSI for more traction (snow on the ground). The trade off of a higher PSI is a rougher ride.
Always use a quality tire gauge to check your tire pressure. The gauges attached to those machines at gas stations suck. They are not accurate at all. Buy one at a local auto parts store (digital is the best) and keep it in your glove box.
NEVER estimate your tire pressure. You can't look at a tire and tell if it has the correct pressure. You'll always end up putting way to much in. I had a lady come in with 80 PSI in all of her tires because they looked low and she estimated because she didn't have a gauge. She's lucky she didn't have a blow out and kill herself.

The manufature pressure rateing on tire is the best to use for tire life and even ware. Although
a higher pressure will give you better gas milage it will ware the outside edge of your tires out a lot faster. It will also make your ride a little harder. So it depends on if you want an exrta tank of gas or to buy new tires sooner and have a harder ride.

If the tires are the same size and type as the factory tires, then go with the vehicle specification. The pressure on the tire is probably max pressure. You really only need to differ if you change something, like rim size, tire size, or go to performance or specialty tires.

go with whit the book says or the sticker, plate in the driver side door. the tires recommendation is for maximum pressure under severe load. as for the gas station, i would but a tire pressure gage and use that one.

cars have a set tire pressure that the manufactuer recommends you will find it in the drivers door jamb. putting you tires at max rec pressure labled on the tire is not a good ideal your car could handle differently and ride like it is on solid rubber tires

Always go with tire pressure these change with tire companies ok air Gage put air chuck Gage on valve stem but do not press leaver it should then give tire pressure

you should use the tire pressure, but inflate just a tad higher, so if the tire says 44 then inflate to 47-49 it's been proven that well inflated tires will improve your gas mileage and right now we all need that.
