Caravan ongoing turn signal issue?

2000 Dodge Caravan keeps blowing turn signal lights (left front only). I've replaced the bulb with the manual's recommended bulb, had mechanics replace the bulb as well - at least a dozen times over the last 2 years. I've replaced the relay switch, and I even broke down and took it to the dealership and they charged me big bucks to replace some bad wiring, but the thing still keeps blowing out after a week or two. What are the mechanics missing?

Update:

Kiss, you think the same as I - fuse has been changed & re-checked... yes, I assume it's a short, but why would this recur after having it all rewired?

Sounds like wires are rubbing somewhere. Ask yourself these questions: Is condensation building up where the light bulb is? Are you driving over bumpy roads continuously?

    Have you changed any fuses?

From past experience, really sounds like a bad fuse or is a short somewhere in the system. We went the same route with a GMC van, years ago.

  • It is probably a halogen bulb, often these are set in a ceramic casing at the base where the prongs begin to extend on the inside, they still make them this way, however they've improved that, and changed some from a ceramic base to something else, not sure what, but halogen's seem to have this problem, the ceramic cracks easily and then, that's it, time for new bulb. Check see if that's it and then ask for a newer model, don't use same type.
