What are some strengths and weaknesses of democracy(the form of government)?

Strengths:
1. More people are eligible to vote and run for office than in authoritarian regimes.
2. Freedom of speech and the press is more likely to occur.
Weaknesses:
1. Democracy can be a threat to minority groups (not necessarily racial ones). It can devolve into the proverbial three wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner.
2. Democracies usually have divided factions in government. In the U.S., you often have stalemate between the Republicans and the Democrats. In Europe, you often have unstable coalitions in their multi-party parliaments. There's a lack of efficiency and consensus.
