why is this ok?

why is ok for obama to make this statement, but when bill cosby said about the same thing he was chastized?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080615/ap_on_el_pr/ob...

Update:

plus why was his message to only black fathers. why not to all fathers that have failed their children?

Update 2:

bill cosby is more qualified to make the statement than obama,he has a doctorate in education. my problem is that obama singled out a certain race and not all fathers who messed up.

Chatter said" he was in a black church , don't blow it out of proportion". What I would like to know is if he isn't a racist himself, then why is it he goes to a black church. I would think he would be accepted at any church, not just the black ones. And by the way, it is not ok for him to make a statement like that if he is really the savior he makes himself out to be.

I guess it's O.K. because Obama is the latest craze, plus the fact that it's not O.K. for a conservative to make those types of comments. What other answer can there be, both statements by Obama and Cosby are basically saying the exact same thing.

Perhaps it's because he's half black, and because his black father abandoned his family, that he feels justified in discussing the issue? Unless you're suggesting that black fathers shouldn't help raise their kids?

Anyway, who decided that it wasn't OK when Cosby said it? As far as I can tell, thousands of people turned out to hear Cosby's lectures on the subject, so it must have some interest for its intended audience...

maybe because barack is a politacal figure and has more jurisdiction to make a comment like that vs. bill cosby who's just an entertainer. idk.

and because there are more black fathers who arent in their children's lives than any other race.

I don't know why his message was only to black fathers. There are plenty of dead beat dads in both races... Perhaps it has something to do with his father being black. It makes no difference to me really.

He was speaking in a black church. Don't blow it out of proportion.
