When is it time to say enough is enough? Does anyone else feel this war has gone on for way too long?

The war in Iraq should never have begun. If the troops had not been diverted from Afghanistan, I feel we'd be in a much better position right now. We should not have been fighting a war on two fronts in two nations. Afghanistan was difficult enough, without going to war in Iraq. Now Bush is pushing to start another war against Iran. Had been pushing to start a fight with North Korea. He sounds a good bit to me like the criminal of World War 11.

I have not seen the video and although I do have my own opinion about whether we should have ever gone to war, I think this question is best answered by Sun Tzu. Chapter II
1. Sun Tzu said: In the operations of war, where there are in the field a thousand swift chariots, as many heavy chariots, and a hundred thousand mail-clad soldiers, with provisions enough to carry them a thousand li, the expenditure at home and at the front, including entertainment of guests, small items such as glue and paint, and sums spent on chariots and armor, will reach the total of a thousand ounces of silver per day. Such is the cost of raising an army of 100,000 men.
2. When you engage in actual fighting, if victory is long in coming, then men's weapons will grow dull and their ardor will be damped. If you lay siege to a town, you will exhaust your strength.
3. Again, if the campaign is protracted, the resources of the State will not be equal to the strain.
4. Now, when your weapons are dulled, your ardor damped, your strength exhausted and your treasure spent, other chieftains will spring up to take advantage of your extremity. Then no man, however wise, will be able to avert the consequences that must ensue.
5. Thus, though we have heard of stupid haste in war, cleverness has never been seen associated with long delays.
6. There is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare.
7. It is only one who is thoroughly acquainted with the evils of war that can thoroughly understand the profitable way of carrying it on.

It is all about to come to an end, but I think it is only the beginning AGAIN for many who don't remember the torture, the children being taken from their homes to fight in the war for the terrorists of Iran and the liitle female children who were taken as slave girls for their pleasure. Land taken away and lives lost. But what you will believe to be different in another 20 years for the people of Iraq, will be just a repeat, and probably much much worse, and on top of that, all the many billions of U.S. dollars that will be of waste that once rebuilt their cities and allowed them to have games and videos and TV's in their homes; many for the first time......They forget......and so will we....Most of you don't even have an idea of the suffering that began 20 years ago and beyond for the people of Iraq....The rest don't even care to think about it! But I know....I was a soldier for 20 years as well! I've seen and heard the stories that you never got to hear. I heard of the burial wholes that hundreds were thrown into at a time so not to cause an outbreak. Yes, it's time for it to end.....but only for us!

That's in part because you think of it as a war, when in fact it's a counter-insurgency operation. These are almost always measured in terms of ten to thirty years, so "too long" is more about unrealistic expectations than about the reality on the ground. Of course, unrealistic expectations are where the whole thing started!
If it makes a difference, though, it looks like there may be a resolution after the Iraqi elections, when the US is likely going to be asked to leave.

I have never viewed the "media made enemy" as my enemy. But what can we do? Not one person or group have said anything about impeaching Bush, which we should have done in 2003. Hopefully MCcain wont win the presidency and the new President WILL say enough.
By the way in Mexico gas is .18cents(US) and in Venezuela it is .82cents(US). So this war is hurting Americans more than any group and it was never a priority.

I only give thumbs up. If I know a friend as had a bad day of it, I will go to the questions they answered and give thumbs up for them. In the questions I ask I thumbs up all for taking the time to answer my question (except those that are rude or hurtful to others they get no thumbs). I see no need for the thumbs down icon at all. If you find it has value enjoy it and thank the person. If not leave it where you found it unchanged.

Wars will happen in future also as long as there is separative
feeling between humans leading to fragmentation of the society.

We don't need anymore boat people(refugees). Its not a popular war but we have to follow through. But I don't know why we are saving Europe's as* while they stand on the sidelines and mutter....oh! that's right....we have the only strong back that bares the burden of freedom.

There are many view points on the war. Is this guy the best you can do? That guy is not our enemy. We are not there killing their people. Their own people are doing that. What do you think it will be like if we abandon them? Peace and prosperity? You are dreaming. How 'bout we pack it up and come home..they will follow us. Have you forgotten?

Kucinich is trying to impeach Bush for going to war with Iraq, but congress is trying to sideline him... So basically people are saying that enough is enough, but it seems like the government only has their own best interests in mind.
