Can allergies, sinusitis, or post nasal drip (or combination) cause chronic sore throat and ear pain/ Thanks!
I have had all of these for going on a year now, sometimes worse than others, but most always present. I had sinus surgery 7 years ago after suffering a 4-month infection. My symptoms improved, but the surgeon told me that people sometimes have to have 2 and 3 surgeries before completely "cured." I have only begun to experience the symptoms described above within the past year since surgery, but they are everpresent. I just thought someone might know. Again, thanks!
By the way, the symptoms of my sinus infection 4 years ago, which would not subside without the operation, were more severe than now. This is why I am wondering if there is a correlation. :)
I meant 7 years ago, lasting 4 mos.

I am not sure why you need to go for surgery because of sinus infection. Is it to correct a deviated septum or ablation of the turbinates because they are always enlarged and prevent proper ventilation of the nasal passages and sinuses?
A sore throat can be caused by post nasal drip. Getting rid of the post nasal drip can help. However, from the symptoms you have described, I believe you may have chronic sinus infection. This condition takes time to heal and some people may never be completely cured because the cilia is completely dysfunctional.
A good ENT surgeon may prescribe both oral corticosteroids and a nasal spray to help treat your condition.
Once the inflammation subsides, you may then choose to perform nasal irrigation to clear the mucus from your nasal passages and sinuses. The purpose of this is to ensure that there is no bacterial overload within the sinuses.

Post nasal drip can certainly cause a sore throat.
Allergies and sinusitis can cause post nasal drip.

Yes, they all can cause ear and throat pain. Pressure builds up and leads to aching or infection, which leads to more pain and if you can't get over it then it will remain an ongoing problem. You might need to see about additional treatment or even surgery.

Yes, it can. I would be slow to have surgery again. I would first see a allergy specialist as that may be the cause of some of your problems.
