Xbox 360 lag problem?

The bars you see partly depend on the host of the game.

When the game is starting, it picks the 'best' host for the game, which is always the one with the best ping time (basically the time taken for a round trip from the console to the server and back).

Unfortunately for those of us outside the US, it only checks ping times to the US server, not the UK or Japan ones.

This means that the host is almost always in the US, even if the other 11 players are in the UK. This means the host gets 'Superman' powers (comes round a corner, takes aim and kills you before he's even fully on your screen), and every one else gets lag lag and more lag, obviously depending on how great the hosts broadband is.

4 green bars, and you're likely playing with the host in the UK, or at least Europe.

1 red bar, host is probably in the US with a slow internet connection, but just happens to be in the 'right' country to be host.

Think your self lucky compared to people in Australia. I've never played anyone from down under who has anything more that 1 red bar!

XBOX 360 has many issues but lag cannot be blamed on it. The problem your having is because of the game itself. It does not have its own dedicated server and one player in the room is the designated host. Most likely this is just an issue with your connection to that individual.

If your using the wireless connection that could also cause it. Wireless is not reliable. One thing that could definitly cause an issue with wiresless is if your house has 2.4ghz cordless phones. They can interfere with it. Or anything else that operates on 2.4ghz. Switch to 5.8 if ya can. I have also seen CFL light bulbs cause an issue as well.

It depends on which game it is. Some games rely on the host of the game for connection. So if he lags, and your all fast, hes going to win the game of course. Its crap, i know, but what can you do? Host your own games. Also, just because you have full bars doesnt mean you have a good internet provider? How fast are your download speeds on the computer? Around 400+ kb/s and you shouldnt be lagging, enless its the host like i said of course.

Lag can be caused due to other people you are connected to in your xbox live session having bad connections. Your connection looks great! Make sure nothing is using your connection though, such as other computers, and check nobody is sitting outside your house stealing your connection.

it's the wireless adapter. i have one too and it lags a lot for some unknown reason. when i switch back to an ethernet connection there's no problem.

frst chek ur lan wire is it correctly attached..isn't it loose!!

then chek if a pinging device is there which hampers ur speed..

then join a server consisting less plyrs...

as ur connection directly go down..so chek ur isp modem

try using ethernet for a while or play team tactical to see if you lag cuz it has little players.
