What does it mean to be a good man?

In my opinion, a 'good man' is someone who respects his partner as well as himself. He obviously loves, is thoughtful, doesn't hurt the person he cares about (physically, verbally, or mentally), he helps out with at least 1/2 of everything!

Will do anything for his family, and be the best husband, father, friend, etc. Plus he communicates, & doesn't fly off the handle when things sometimes don't work out, or has a foul mouth. Oh, I almost forgot "Doesn't cheat!"

Can you tell me where I could find one of those? I know nobody's perfect, but I know there are men out there like that just not where I live.(if there are, they're married)

In western mainstream culture it means to be a provider for yourself and your family. A person that takes care of their offspring and is good to those around him. Not negative, deceitful, overly-dependent, or abusive. Of couse this is all subjective. One's definition of a good man is determined by ones definition of good. Which in come cases can be what another would perceive as bad.

To live and let live. If you can't do anyone any good don't do nothing. Respect without expecting respect first. Know when to forgive and show mercy. it also means that a good man can't be both good and bad.

the concepts of a good man in Islam :

never ever loose your temper

be opened minded

and be the calm one

honor your wife as if there where ur queen

I would describe a good man as someone who can provide for his family. Someone who is loving, caring, genuine, sweet. Someone who values others and himself.

Someone who treats people with respenct and is a good person.
