Elise a male name??

In America can Elise also be a name for a male?? Are there any famous man with the first name Elise or is that name purely a female name??

    Elise means God is my oath in French.

    To me its a purely female name.

    You could use it as a male name i suppose if you like it as a male name. It is mostly thought after as a female name though. You might want to consider using it as a middle name if you really want to use it as a name for a male.

    I think of it as a girl name..

    It sounds a bit too feminine to be a guys name.

    Eli or Elijah have the same kind of feel..so maybe go with something like that.
