Can you help me plan how to pack?

In two weeks, I'm leaving my 5000 sq ft house and moving into a 1600 sq ft basement apartment.

I am utterly lost about how to pack. I have taken plants from my current garden and planted them in the new house! I've packed a few nicnacs...

But, when I look at clothes - i think, well, we'll need those for the next two weeks. When I look at books, I think - well, my sons will need to read those in the next weeks... Obviously same with dishes/pots/pans.

i don't have to empty the 5000 sq foot house right now - i can come back and do that after i'm moved in to the new place. so, i just have to pack what I need.

How? Where to start? I'm just spinning in circles...

lots of excess junk around here, too...

Update:

OY! Write down my plan... What plan???? I don't know how to plan....

You're thinking about it the wrong way. There really isn't all that much you'll actually need in the next two weeks. Knick knacks get packed first. You won't need them at all. Books--well, how many are you really going to read? Everyone can tough it out for a couple of weeks with half a dozen books each. Pack all but a few. Clothes--pretend you're going on a 2 week holiday, keep out what you'll really need to wear for the next two weeks, all the rest get packed. It's summer, you won't need boots, coats, sweaters, extra blankets etc. Same with cooking equipment. Keep out a few saucepans, a frying pan, basic utensils and appliances, pack all the fancy stuff. Keep out a set of dishes, glasses, cutlery. You get the idea. Sit down for a couple of hours and make a list of what you really need to live for a couple of weeks and pack everything else. Start by looking at each room and separating essentials from non-essentials. You're going to be busy packing, you won't be entertaining or baking cakes. If you don't have boxes yet, get some. Take some into each room, pack and label them. Have a box in each room for things you want to get rid of, toss stuff in it as you come across it, put it in the garge sale pile or take it to charity. You'll be able to use the time in the empty house to clean it. Cleaning an empty house takes a long time.

i'm doing it in ranges. a pair of week in the past I prepare my "bathing room needs" bag. It has pattern sizes of my skincare, lotion, mouthwash, toothpaste, cleansing soap, deodorant, shampoo & conditioner. It additionally has a razor, hair clips and rubber bands, pads, toothbrush, a small comb & brush. in actuality an "out-of -city" bag. i might hate to be on the birthing midsection/well being facility and not have precisely what i became wanting precise then! As for garments, i'm confident i'm going to get on that at approximately 35 weeks or so. be confident to incorporate socks and change flops or abode shoes :-)
