What do you buy grocery wise, if you're too busy to cook and somewhat picky?
I don't know much about cooking currently anyway but me and my husband stay busy and work different shifts for the time being and this will probably continue until the end of the year. We have been eating out a lot but we would rather start buying some groceries so we will eat at home more often. What are some good quick fixes? In the microwave, in the oven for a bit. It doesn't even matter so much that it isn't really fast, just that it's easy, a stick in and forget about it, kind of thing. I'm the somewhat picky eater, not my husband, so that preference is my fault! If you have picky eaters in your home or are picky yourself, what may I like? I specifically shop in Wal-Mart by the way. Thanks for any suggestions!

My boyfriend and I enjoy Viola and Bertoli prepacked frozen pasta. Very easy!
Try to find your favorite TV dinners for back up. (To keep on track try Lean Cusine and such... not much better for you chemically, but not so fatty and high in calories.)
Sandwiches are quick fixes. Stock up on lunch meat, cheese, condiments, any veggies you use, and bread or rolls.
We enjoy this frozen chicken alfredo. It takes about an hour, but it's actually the best frozen alfredo I've had! I wish I could remember the name, but I get it at Walmart... it comes in a green package and the package is like a tray wit a cover on it. It serves about 4 people.
Banquet makes family size frozen dinners that aren't so bad. Try them all to find your favorite. The salsbury steak cooks funny, so I don't reccommend that one.
We buy bubba or angus Sams Club burgers from Walmart and cook them up on the George Foreman. Since they are prepackaged frozen burgers, they cook just fine on a George Foreman, and it only takes about 10 minutes. Just be careful and watch the meat. Cut it in half to check. Angus makes good varietys with flavor. We enjoy the bacon and cheese burgers. NO NEED TO SEASON!!
When you do order out, pay the little extra for the bigger pizza, or the bigger meal... that way you have left overs for a second meal... for about 5 dollars more!

I'm a single mom of one who works full time, so I use anything quick for dinner, and I have simple tastes when it comes to food too. For starters, I use frozen veggies that I cook in the microwave. I use things like mac & cheese, instant rice, instant potatoes, and pasta often. There are so many variations of these things that take 15 min. at the most to cook up. You can get white or brown rice, use boullion to alter the taste (my mom used to use the chicken kind), and instant potatoes come in many varieties. I get the Knorr/Lipton pasta pouches, also again, many varieties. I make (ie: heat up- lol) chicken nuggets, fish sticks, hot dogs, steak-ums, breaded fish fillets, Freezer Queen entrees (we love the sliced turkey and gravy with rice) just to name a few 'meat' products for dinner. Sometimes I bake some fish sticks and pierogies on a cookie sheet at the same time, and heat up a veggie, and dinner's done! I also use things like chicken noodle soup or scrambled eggs (with some sausage or turkey bacon and some fruit) for dinner.

Try some of those crock pot dinners in the freezer section. Or put some chicken and Italian dressing in the crock pot and cook on low all day. I've even done a small turkey in the crock pot. Good Luck the possibilities are endless.

Well to eat a healthy meal you can find recipes to cook in bulk then freeze in portion sizes. It is time consuming but only do when you have time. An example of this is to cook lasagna. Just get a recipe book and I think they even sell ones for cooking then freezing. Hope this works out for you guys!
