What do I do about this situation?Hair problem?
There is this lady that I work with (at school) brought her child in the office we share and the child has lice. She did not tell me this another co-worker did. We now think that the lady has it because she had to get her hair cut off real short and she cried about it...(she had said that she wasn't going to get her hair cut because her boyfriend likes her hair long) My question is how can I protect myself from getting it when i am around her? I have really long hair and I have to share a desk with her.
p.s. she had real long hair that's why we think she did it to make it easier to treat.
And I have tried the ponytail thing thanks. :)

There's a good chance you could get it...but if it's a school, they wouldn't allow her or her child to come back in if they still had lice. And yes, most schools will check first. But you cannot prevent head lice. Usually, at a school, they will send a letter around to all students to let the parents know there was a head lice outbreak. And then the school nurse will do a check in all students' hair.
You don't have to cut off all of your hair if you get head lice...you just have to use a lice-killing shampoo and use a fine-toothed comb afterwards to make sure you get out all of the nits and eggs. And you also should wash all bedding in hot water, as well as seal tightly all personal items in a trashbag for at least a week.
And wow, this question is making my head itch...lol!!!

No problem. I used to have to sit beside a girl just like that and i never got it. Just never ever hug her and dont get really close to her. If you ever worry about it, get someone to check your hair. Then if you are still not sure just use special kinds of shampoo.
Oh, and never share brushes and things like that with her, easy way to get lice.

you don't have to cut all your hair off if you have lice... you just have to use a lice shampoo & comb.
