I've lived in the Cleveland area for all of my 50years (cept for 4 in Va and 4 in TX). We have had tornadoes but nothing like what you see in the plains states (KS, OK,TX) but most are to the south and south west of the lake. We did have one here about 3 years ago but I am not sure if they officially classified it as a tornado. I can remember before that was my birthday! July 4th 1969! And I'm not sure of the year, but Xenia Ohio got hit pretty hard but that was back when I was a kid. Not to scare your wife but I have seen more water spouts than tornadoes!

I've only been to Toledo once when my sister went to BGSU so I can't tell you much about the area except that living on the lake is great! Your going to be near the Lake Erie islands and I understand Toledo has a great zoo. You should be fine.. weather is weather.. every where has something. earthquake in CA, Hurricaines in FL, Tornadoes in KS.. I would be thinking more about snow here than tornadoes! At least you won't be in the Snow Belt like I am! lol

We are the North Coast of America after all!

Not as often as you'd think... the flatter the area, the more sightings but most don't actually touch down. You don't get many tornadoes in the Lake Erie area, which is where Toledo is (mostly due south of Toledo).

I've lived in Ohio for 20 years and I don't think we have had many that actually created a lot of damage or cost lives. Like anything else in nature, there are good years and bad years.

not often at all. ohio is in the tornado belt, but hardly ever recieves them.

i lived there for 15 years, and the entire time, there have only been warnings for my area, but nothing too bad.

there have been a feww incidents ive seen on tv though..

but ive never had a problem with them. i remember once i was 6 and i went to a drive in movie with my mom and we were sent home by a police officer because there was a tornado coming. that was the closest i got to one.\

i wouldnt worry too much. goodluck

hi, I stay in Illinois, yet i admire climate like this, even nonetheless the crap it does sucks. Anways, i desire this facilitates: under, I pasted the web pages reffering to what you adult adult males are conversing approximately. the 1st web page is the components map of the Ohio section. in case you will hit upon Dayton on the map, then around there is possibly what your buddy is conversing approximately. as curiously, a intense thunderstorm warning is all I see. the 2nd is the forecast section. purely a intense thunderstorm look ahead to Arcanum is in result.
