Are there any world War II vets who can tell me?

if there way a pay disparity between black soldiers and white soldiers in the US during this war?

Update:

The reason I'm curious is because a friend and I were discussing Ernest K. Gaines' short story "The Sky is Gray," set in Louisiana during World War II, and it seemed that the family wasn't getting much of anything. I was wondering if black soldiers were paid less or if their dependents received no benefits or what the situation might have been.

The pay was the same. It was just harder for black soldiers to get promoted and the fields they could join where limited.

Not sure about the pay. I do know that there were bases where we kept German POW's and they were allowed to use the PX, Officer and Enlisted Men's Clubs and the blacks could not.
