grass snake (natrix natrix)?
(uk only).found one of these in my garden.It was the best part of
2 feet long.Its been here for 5 days.What i want to know is
can it harm my cat as she likes being out in the garden.
It has vanished for now but it may return.

grass snakes are timid nervous snakes when confronted by other larger animals. they are non venomous and the chances are that if it did come across your cat the cat would do more damage. i come accross snakes at the rescue all the time that have been injured by cats. you have nothing to fear. if you have any food rubbish that rodents can get at clear it away as the rodents will attract snake

your cat is in now harm a grass snake would much rather play dead or escape than confront a cat or person for that matter.
they may musk which will make your cat smell but other than that no harm.,
i wish i got grass snakes in my garden!

Geee!! i just hate things the crawl ... and on that i would spray or ask someone to come cut off the grass in the garden before it comes back ... geee.... grrrrrrrrrrr ! helppp( running out and my whole body is shivering just to talk about it ) damn !!
Just make sure the cut doesnt go out when you are not there with it ...

it may bite you cats if its 5 feet long but i doubt it your cat would have to go up to it and cats arent stupid animals

NO, I LIVE IN THE US, BUT I STUDY SNAKES. THE SNAKE YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT IS NON-POISONOUS. IT MAY BITE, BUT WILL HAVE NO EFFECT. I JUST LOOKED IT UP ONLINE, IT WILL DO NOTHING TO YOUR CAT.
