Slope stability is used to ensure that landslips do not occur.

Slope stability is used on both existing slopes and slopes created when, for example, roads are cut through hillsides.

    Some methods used are:

    Gabions

    Rock anchors

    Soil nailing

    Grouting

    Shotcreting

Cutting back the slope to a stable angle

    Retaining walls

Drains to reduce the water table

    Compaction of soil

    Replacement of slope material

Placing stone on top of slope surface to create stronger slope (increases slip circle path)
