Best camping areas in Michigan?
My husband and I are planning a trip to Mackinac Island Michigan. On our way home we would like to do some tent camping with our 2 kids. What are some of the best camping areas in the state of Michigan based on your experience? thanks for your help.

Straits State Park (lower) is pretty good. I'm not sure about construction on the Bridge, it was down to one lane earlier. Hartwick Pines near Grayling was okay. So were Harrisville and Twas City State Parks. Ludington SP is my preferred, but with 12 inches of rain a few weeks ago, I would call first.
Not to be a smart a%$ but What is meant by "best"? and home? Is this best for the kids, cheapest, best attractions, modern, semi modern, or rustic camping site? And at least which direction or quarter of the State would you consider?
There are State campgrounds that have Teepee's and Yurts which might appeal to the kids. http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-10365_241...
