pondering he had championed using utilising Public funds to run an excellent race, that's despicable, yet standard. He would desire to think of he will pick the extra funds by no longer accepting public funds. "In November 2007, Obama spoke back "confident" to person-friendly reason while requested "in case you're nominated for President in 2008 and your considerable combatants conform to forgo deepest investment interior the conventional election marketing campaign, will you're taking section interior the presidential public financing gadget?" Obama wrote: "In February 2007, I proposed a singular thank you to maintain the potential of the conventional public financing gadget interior the 2008 election. My plan demands the two considerable social gathering applicants to agree on a fundraising truce, return extra funds from donors, and stay in the conventional public financing gadget for the conventional election. My concept accompanied bulletins by some presidential applicants that they'd forgo public financing so as that they'd enhance limitless funds interior the conventional election. The Federal Election fee ruled the thought criminal, and Senator John McCain (R-AZ) has already pledged to settle for this fundraising pledge. If i'm the Democratic nominee, i will aggressively pursue an settlement with the Republican nominee to maintain a publicly financed conventional election."

Yes, a liar. When he made the initial statement in 2007 he didn't realize he'd be the money grabber that he is now. He thought he was going to go up against a bunch of long tenured Washington sorts with a ton of cash. He thought by accepting public finance, he could stay on even ground with the Hillarys & McCains.

However, now he realizes he has a faucet of $$ coming in and is going back on his word...yes, lying for political gain. The campaign weighed the pros (1/2 billion to buy the election) vs the cons (a few days of bad press).

A balatant lie, and a broken promise. He promised that if the Republican Candidate accepted public financing, he would do the same. So McCain accepted the financing....and now Obama decided that he doesn't need to keep his word.

Don't be fooled by messages of "CHANGE".

no matter what the system or what the (campaign finance) laws are, he is correct in saying the system is broken. Of course, any change in obama's policy/direction will be met with a certain number of obama haters who will claim he is "a liar", thus diverting attention away from mccain, who still has many lobbyists as campaign managers/fundraisers. It's worth noting obama raises much of his money from millions of small donors while mccain appears to get his from a few, very large donors. I agree with you; he is changing strategy/tactics.

  • I agree. It's strategy. The ultimate goal is to win the GE.

He has to decide the best way to do that with the funds he has...I think his reason is clear and makes sense:

It's not an easy decision, and especially because I support a robust system of public financing of elections," Obama told supporters in a video message Thursday. "But the public financing of presidential elections as it exists today is broken, and we face opponents who've become masters at gaming this broken system."

I'd say the some are correct.

I think he's going back on a commitment. His excuses are weak.

What other commitments will he go back on?
