It is true the more educated you are the less religious, anyone know why?

um statistacilly yes.
Because education has a tendency to figure things out and show where there is no evidence of god.
Where as the less educated are the ones who use religion to answer certian questions.
Either way... *giggles and giggles more*
Good question but definately makes me laugh a little.

The educated folks refer to the "religious right" and the "religious left."
And here is the problem with statistics of this nature. What does "religious" mean, exactly? The most die-hard Christian fundamentalists deny being religious at all. But educated, liberal Christians of the Catholic or Episcopal bent call themselves "religious." If you conduct the survey at a secular university that discourages religious expression, will you get different results than what you would find at St. Vladimir's Seminary?

From a statistical standpoint, there is a modicum of truth to it. As with people who are religious, though, I can't help but wonder how many educated nontheists have truly thought through their beliefs, and how many are simply nontheist because religion and spirituality are considered "uncool" in certain academic circles.
I'm not being a smart-alec in saying that, by the way. I truly wonder how many people, on both sides, are really thinking for themselves, and how many are simply going with their respective crowds. Nontheists often take pride in the fact that they are "free thinkers," and for those that that is true of, they have every right to be proud. However, does being an atheist necessarily make one a "free thinker?" Does being a theist automatically make one "superstitious?" I would answer in the negative for both questions, just as I would say that not all atheists are immoral and not all theists are moral. Such sweeping generalizations are unjustified and uncalled for.

it is called the religious right because a majority of modern conservatives are very religious. They are conservative as in their values reflect those of the old world, which are the values of the bible. the educated left values modern science and logic, and promotes modern democratic ideals. at least in America.
The religious right is also not considered educated, because a majority of the people that fall into this category blindly follow what they believe. Even with infinite evidence against them, there are still rightists who will argue that dinosaurs didn't exist and that evolution doesn't happen. But anyone educated can show you that is not true. Basically anyone who blindly reads the bible and believes every single detail can be considered uneducated because they are not thinking for themselves and ignoring the hundreds of years of scientific evidence that proves the bible wrong. Those who are educated are generally liberal, and hence the educated left.

Proving causation is difficult.
It could be that education makes you less religious or being less religious makes you want to seek a higher level of education. Or it might be both.
The terms derive from the obvious dominance of Christianity in American conservativism and the fact those in academia lean left.

Who is "they"?
No its not true.
Republicans in the USA are called to be on the right and Democrats are called to be on the left because in the US Capitol, in the House and Senate Chambers, Republicans sit on the right side of the chamber and Democrats sit on the left side of the chamber.
That is also where terms like Left Wing and Right Wing come from.

Because religion has the nature to stagnate
and become conservative. The educated left is more dynamic and liberal. It evolves with the evolution of thought.

No doubt you consider yourself the educated left. Pride goeth before destruction.

The more educated you are the less you believe in superstitions.
Edit: Ms Lady, pieces of paper do not indicate education. The same guy who got all D's got the same piece of paper as you did. It has also been repeatedly proven in repeated tests since 1927 that the higher intelligence of the person the less of a tendency to be religious.
Edit: You can take it as hating all you want, I was pointing out what can make your statement false. I also did not indicate you got D's.

Question #2
