You have to live in the state for two years to become a resident. However....you can contact admissions. There is a form that you can fill out that basically says you have moved to the state to live, not just to go to school. You fill it out and you have to show proof or residence, which is like a water bill, etc. They will then allow you to be considered a resident immediately.

Your best bet would be to ask the college itself. Many states have different residency requirements, particularly if it means qualifying for a lower tuition. You'll probably have to prove some sort of residence for a period of time.

The state's I've lived in recently only required one year to become a resident, but in order to do so, you needed to get a local drivers license, register your car in-state, register to vote, and fill out some forms you can get either from the DMV or courthouse. Do it as soon as you arrive.
