highlight the thing you wanna subscript, go to font, then tick the box

That will depend on the software you use, but in MS-Word it is Control-= (control key and equal sign).
Superscript is Control-+ (control key and plus sign, which on most keyboards is the same key with the Shift key).

There aren't actual buttons for that - but if using certain programs - like WORD, you can find that on your button bars at the top.... or under Format and Font.
