In "Dr. No", as 007 turns and fires his Walther at the very start, there's no 007 theme??? Just saw DVD

I just saw the DVD Dr. No. It is the FIRST 007 movie. As Bond walks smoothly across the screen, and we see the view through the bad guy's gun, rifled barrel and all, there is no 007 theme music, just funny bell sounds. Then 007 turns and fires with the Walther PPK 7.65mm he has been holding by the right thigh. Did the Bond theme music only start in Goldfinger?? Bond experts and fans, I appreciate your kind assistance with some answers please. Thanking you in advance. Best regards, The Travelling Gourmet {:-)

It IS the first Bond film, and not all of the elements were in place yet. Actually, they might not have grasped what a hit the film would be and that this would build to a world-famous series of movies.

Simply put, John Barry likely hadn't written the Bond theme. By the time "Goldfinger" rolled around, James Bond had become a cultural phenomenon. Somewhere along the way, Barry wrote the music practically everyone can "sing" along with. I mean, you can't really HUM it; you HAVE to do the syllable thing.
