I'm not a Blue Jays Fan (I like them, but, not a true fan) but, a true full MLB Fan, and quite frankly the odd thing about your question is this.....,

......I truly think they did it because of a secondary reason being Gibbons was a mediocre Manager with a history of disharmony, but, here's the climax,.....

.....I truly believe that Toronto is going to turn around and hire Willie Randolf to bring some measure of controversy and attention to the Blue Jays, and, also to embarrass the Mets front office,........but, because I believe Toronto likes Randolf and they think he has done a good job otherwise with the Mets although not winning a WS and bring some excitement to the Club House.
