There are tons of free website hosts out there like Geocities (http://geocities.yahoo.com/) that you can use. Or you can go the route where you pay for purchase your own domain name, pay for hosting. Or there is the in between route like Homestead (http://www.homestead.com/)....I suggest you check out Geocities or Homestead to get you going...

You might try www.blogger.com. You can set up a blog for free and set it up like a website. You could have something up in a day...it's that easy.

If you want to set up a real website with a lot of options, I recomment Dreamweaver over FrontPage...just my preference. However, there is some cost involved and the learning curve is more challenging, but I think it's fun.

I used TinyPurpleGrapes.com to create my family home page and a few other sites. http://tinypurplegrapes.com/CSC

I think its the only free website builder that does not display ads on your site.

Here are a few sample sites including mine:

    http://hauses.tinypurplegrapes.com/CSC

    http://billie.tinypurplegrapes.com/CSC

It is very easy to use and has lots of great features like

    - Photo Albums

    - Visitor Comments

    - File Download Area

    - Color schemes to choose from

    - Member Only Content

    - Detailed Visitor Statistics showing who has visited your site and what pages they have visited.

    - Custom Domain Name Support

i use namo web editor 4 with ftp commander to upload to your site. this gives the option of using templates but you can customize as much as you like. also gives you a little individuality compared to some of the free sites. you should find your isp offers some amount of free web space, usually enough to get a good site up and running. this prog also shows your pages in HTML so you can compare and learn more about HTML and what it can do.

You must purchase a domain, find someone to host it and then build your site. There are many host sites that you can purchase a domain through.
