How can a dog go from skiddish and scared, have a litter of puppies, and then be the sweetest dog ever?
My Mom rescued a dog from the street that was scared and we assumed that it had been abused. When she took her to the vet to have her spayed and she ran away and was gone for 2 months! On her excursion, she went into heat and got pregnant. When my Mom finally found her, she was a sweet, loving dog. She had since had the puppies and she acts like she isn't afraid of anything and she is super sweet. Where before she wouldn't even come to me. How does this happen? And, once she is done nursing and the pregnancy hormones are gone, will she return to the scared, stand-offish dog?
Believe it or not, she escaped from the Vet's office when they were transferring her from one building to another. She got scared and the Vet tech was barely holding the leash and she bolted. This was as they were taking her into surgery. It was crazy!

It sounds like motherhood is happening. Your dog may become more skiddish, but I think that after seeing things not so scary your dog will warm up and become more brave. In the mean time I recommend that you try to build up a relationship with your dog while she is still in a good mood. That way if she does go back to normal she will be less afraid of you

Hormones and I'd ask the vet about all of this when you take her on a leash to get spayed.

they do no longer stay great close - they may be friends, yet specific, they're going to mate with one yet another. they might become "bitter enemies" as much as canines do. The bond isn't very such as the ascertain-new child bond in people.

well maybe think on a human scale: some people react different when they have sex and kids, some people are more confident(kinda like ur dog) and others.....not so much. Hope it helps.

hormones.... she may keep that nurturing instinct or go back to being scared and skiddish... she HAS to be strong for those pups to survive that is her mindset so that protectiveness can be part of it too

Take the small risk and spay her. Use a better leash/collar on this trip to the vet, please.
