How do you fix a drip system hose that has cracked?

The hose was spraying water all over the place when the sprinkler system went on. I turned off the system and dug down to the hose in the ground. It has a crack in it about 3/4 of an inch long. I am not sure of the proper way to fix it. I don't want to do the wrong thing and any help that you can offer will be greatly appreciated. I live in Las Vegas so we have very hot & dry conditions. The hose is probably about 6 inches below the surface if that makes any difference. Thank you in advance!
