Why do you love the Bible?

John Wesley once said, “I have thought I am a creature of a day, passing through life as an arrow through the air. I am a spirit come from God, and returning to God, just hovering over the great gulf, till a few moments hence, I am no more seen; I drop into an unchangeable eternity! I want to know one thing—the way to heaven, how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way; for this very end He came from heaven. He has written it down in a book. O give me that Book at any price, give me the Book of God” (from the preface of Sermons on Several Occasions by John Wesley, originally published in 1771).

Update:

Isaiah

13 Then the commander stood and called out in Hebrew, "Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria! 14 This is what the king says: Do not let Hezekiah deceive you. He cannot deliver you! 15 Do not let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the LORD when he says, 'The LORD will surely deliver us; this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.'

16 "Do not listen to Hezekiah. This is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me. Then every one of you will eat from his own vine and fig tree and drink water from his own cistern, 17 until I come and take you to a land like your own—a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.

18 "Do not let Hezekiah mislead you when he says, 'The LORD will deliver us.' Has the god of any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria? 19 Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? Have they rescued Samaria from my hand? 20 Who

Update 2:

18 "Do not let Hezekiah mislead you when he says, 'The LORD will deliver us.' Has the god of any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria? 19 Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? Have they rescued Samaria from my hand? 20 Who of all the gods of these countries has been able to save his land from me? How then can the LORD deliver Jerusalem from my hand?"

21 But the people remained silent and said nothing in reply, because the king had commanded, "DO NOT ANSWER HIM."

In reading the Bible, God's voice is speaking to us, inviting, promising, blessing, confronting, commanding and healing.

It gives direction for our life; it shows how to be wise and think like God; it strengthens us in our grief; it turns our sadness into joy; it directs us into a right relationship with God and shows us the way back to Him when we stray; it gives peace and keeps us from stumbling; it helps us understand our heart's intentions; it protects us when we are tempted; it sharpens our confidence; it gives us hope, it is our food which satisfies and causes spiritual growth.

Rich treasures of God's truth can be discovered in His Word.

I love the Bible because a lot of the verses can't be taken just at face value, and if you read a verse a few times, you can discover the hidden meaning in the text.

Like a treasure map but in text, with studying you can find treasures in the text and unlike a lot of books, you can't just read/gloss over the bible. It's often coded for a deeper meaning if you take the time to look for it.

It's almost as bloody and political as War and Peace, has nearly as much rampant sexuality as Valley of the Dolls and it's all wrapped up in two handy volumes.

I love the Bible, because it is not only God's word, but when Iook into its pages, I am looking into the face of God. And it is beautiful.
