My 11 month old wants only table food no baby food is that ok???
I have an almost 11 month old son who has never liked baby food but since about 9 months loves table food like spagetti, chicken, potatoes, pasta stuff like that but he will not eat any kind of baby food is that ok??? he is a big baby allready 30 pounds.
He has always been big even b4 the table food.
he is not big because of me. ever since he was born he gained weight way too fast even when I feed him the stuff the doctors say he still gains weight like crazy. and he gets excercise all the time. i play with him walk with him take him to the pool to swim but he still gets bigger I dont know why. I just dont want people blamming me for something I have no control over

that is actually very good! i started trying to get my daughter to explore table foods around 10 months and now at 14 months she is finally ignoring baby food all together. try to see if he will eat fruits and veggies too, and measure out portions for him (not because he is big, my daughter was 26lbs at 12 months) just so you can get an idea about how much he needs to eat. go to babycenter.com and look at their feeding charts. they give amounts from each food group and thats what i go by for my daughter, but i never restrict her from eating more that her recommended serving. example, she will eat baked chicken nuggets (not from a fast food place) and a serving for her should be 2 nuggets.... BUT, i give her 4 cut up into little pieces but 1 always ends up on the floor for the dogs.... just go by your baby's hunger cues and read the chart on how much milk/formula he should be drinking. I started giving my daughter water around 1 year, when i was FINALLY given permission to give her water along with her milk and it was a battle to get her to drink it. now, she is fine with it but i recommend, if you haven't already, incorporating water into his diet.
Source(s): EDIT: if your baby has always been big and your pediatrician has never expressed concern don't worry about him- he could be tall too, but we can't tell that from your post. don't worry about health problems unless his pedi has ever mentioned anything or if he is eating LARGE portions for his size. is he walking yet? my daughter is down to 24.5lbs since she started walking and she is perfectly healthy, just runs around everywhere! - 1 decade ago
have you ever tried that baby food it tastes horrible compared to table food and once you get a taste of table food theres no going back
hes 30 pounds already honey you gotta start getting him into frits and vegetables limit the pasta, potatoes and spaghetti to portions a baby should eat
if you dont do it now he will eat you out of house and home by the time hes ten imagine how much his clothes and shoes will cost
on a more serious note there a many health problems that apply to large babies as well as adults diabetes heart problems breathing difficulities which later on you do not want to feel guilty about
give him fruits and vegetables as snacks now that way you wont have to stand over top of him later trying to make sure he eats his veggies
give him normal size 3 meals per day with all the food groups
be the parent set the limits now before its too late
Source(s): i have a nephew who is 3 years old wearing a size 8 in clothes he uses a breathing machine not to mention all the other health problems im unaware of but hes very sweet and loveable - ALv 41 decade ago
I think that's okay. Obviously he is ahead of his peers in weight, so he probably needs more table food than most. I let my baby (9 mo.) eat either baby food or table food, whichever she prefers. It deopends on what we are eating. She can't eat a salad, but she can eat any softer food. Just try to make sure his meals are balanced- plenty of veggies like peas, carrots, etc.

My daughter is a year and hasn't eaten baby food in about 2 months, once she got table food she stuck her nose up at the jarred food. Just make sure its small pieces and they don't grab a handful and shove it in their mouth.

If he's eating table food, without any trouble or choking, and is digesting it alright, then I think it's fine.
Just make sure all the food is soft (chicken tender, spagetti cut up, potatoes well done etc).

I think it's fine to feed your baby tablefoods. Maybe try giving him yoghurt and fruit and veggies too.
