Not feeding quality dog food?? Mange ?? Food or other allergy ?? Fleas?? Thyroid problem? Talk to your vet.

All breeds of dogs have their share of problems. Labs are known for hip dysplasia. Collies have eye problems (usually detached retinas). Poodles tend to be anemic. With Rat Terriers it's demodex, a type of mange. It's incurable and completely hereditary. Fortunately, it's not life threatening and it can't be passed on to other pets or humans. Take your dog to the vet. They're probably going to suggest you neuter your dog, if he/she isn't already, and give you some pills to administer to him/her for a month or more. Although demodex is incurable, it can be suppressed. It usually only appears when the animal is stressed. Which is a good reason to get them neutered, besides the fact that you don't want to pass this on to any puppies.

My Beagle had the same problem last year and we thought it was lack of diet or mites or the sort. Point blank we took him to the vet to get tests done to find out EXACTLY what was wrong. Because we did...we found out it was mites that caused him to loose his hair. After a few treatments he was fine and the hair grew back. Don't waste time and just take your dog to the vets to find out.

well, is she scratching or biting it off? she could have the manges. keeping dogs well groomed protects against that but doesn't always prevent it. go to the vet and get a proper diagnosis. if it's manges and you want a cheap way to fix her... used car oil. I've used it on 3 dogs. the manges cleared right up. bath dogs constantly, even if they're outside dogs but especially if they are inside dogs. you don't want a dog with a skin condition running through your house. some dog problems do spread to humans.

Have you had a vet check her over? It could be anything from mange, fleas or mites to a food allergy, genetic skin condition or thyroid problem. Don't try to guess, book an appointment and find out.
