Getting dogs to go toilet in one area?!?
Hi i was wondering if anyone had any tricks/ tips to get dogs to go in one area only?!?
When i take them out they go where i tell them, but when they are out during the rest of the day they go everywhere.....
We have a pea graveled area for them to 'toilet' on, but after the morning they don't use it...
I clean up everyday as i have a small son....
Thank you
I thought it might be impossible, but just wondered...... :( Thing is we have a near half acre garden & the dogs have the run of it.... I praise & treat when i see them go in the right place....

Seriously give your dogs treats if they go repeatedly in one area. We have had my dog for 5 years, and he always goes along our back fence. I guess he just doesn't really like walking around in his own "toileting".

Build them a pen. Dogs will normally go in the same place,(except pee'ing, that's anywhere and everywhere) but your garden is just too big for them to have an "I live here" space and an "I dump here, away from where I live" space.
Build a pen, then restrict them to that, instead of giving them the whole garden, you'll find that they'll usually soon start to use the farthest away part for the "dumping ground".

Leash train him. Thats what i am doing. We bring him on to the spot where we want him to go, he does his buisness and we reward him. After a while they get the hint, that you want them to go only in that one spot. This is going to take time, so dont get frustrated, and when you are doing this process be sure, lets say you take him out in the morning on the leash and he goes, then in the afternoon he has to go again, you still have to take him on the leash out there, or he will never learn!
K?
Lotssss of LUCK!**

I think you should get it to go to the bathroom and even though this is gross put its poop in a certain spot and let it see it there keep doing that then when it gets used to it give it treats then after it'll be potty trained!

Reward, reward, reward. Everything to do with training dogs needs a reward, even if its a really enthusiastic fuss but preferably food.

This just takes alot of repetition....if he already goes to this area when your home, then thats going to be a tough one to deal with. you can try using a leash when u take him there.. but good luck with this..i tried and finally gave up with my pup!!!

maybe do the same as if you were house training them everytime you see them going where you dont want them too move them to where you do then praise and possibly treat them for going there

Whenever they are reddy to use the bathroom, you must show them exactly where to use it. In about 2 weeks or so, he/she will know where to go.
