How can I get rid of Antivirus XP 2008?
I already had AVG on my computer and it obviously didn't protect from it. I have tried McAfee, RougeRemover, and Malware Bytes. None have removed it. I am now in the process of trying Spyware Doctor. Will this find and delete it permanently? Also, how did I even get this thing? I am nervous to try to follow the intructions to delete it manually because I am not very experienced with computers. I am looking for a program that can get rid of it for me.
I also tried scanning with Ad Aware with no luck
Also it has an uninstaller, but it doesn't work. It won't uninstall it, as I tried that from the start.

you've tried pretty much every reputable tool. i suggest you also try removing this thing manually, here's a tutorial http://www.2-viruses.com/remove-antivirus-xp
this way you don't need wait till antispyware detects malicious files and deletes them, but you do it on your own, so you can be sure you delete everything.

You can download ccleaner for free here: http://bit.ly/1Bk5V5C
First open CCleaner
Go to the Cleaner tab and you will be confronted by a very confusing lineup of checkboxes.
To make this brief, below is my recommended setup:
Under internet explorer check temporary internet files, cookies, and last download location. Most users don't really need this stuff. keep history and bookmarks unchecked, history is a maybe, but you don't want to lose bookmarked sites. You can normally leave Windows Explorer, System, and Advanced alone.
Run CCleaner and it will start deleting files.
afterward it will present you with a list of the files deleted, you really don't need to go through it as it will be several pages long.
The registry cleaner is recommended for slightly more advanced users. Use it after uninstalling programs as they will often leave behind incorrect registry entries.
If you decide to run Registry cleaner then review the items detected and always back up the registry (I keep a folder aside for this)
The Tools tab lets you uninstall programs and set startup programs. Why do you need this if Windows has all of these features? Especially with Vista Home Ed. The windows defender software explorer( startup programs) doesn't pick up some entries (however software explorer is easier to use).
Using CCleaner to uninstall programs and then check for leftover registry entries takes less time.
Under Options you can determine how CCleaner cleans your files. I leave this alone.

This is how I got rid of Antivirus XP 2008. It is different than the XP Antivirus 2008 most sites refer to.
First you need to stop the program from loading on startup. This is what you do to stop it:
Start, run
Type msconfig
Go to Startup tab
Uncheck lphc35dj0e1an
Uncheck rhc75dj0e1an
Click apply, then ok
Restart computer
Then you need to delete the main files this program uses. Delete the following file:
C:\windows\system32\lphc35dj0e1an.exe
Delete the following folder and all contents:
C:\program files\rhc75dj0e1an
This should remove the program from your system but you probably still have a warning message displayed as your wallpaper in Windows and the virus removed the ability to change the wallpaper or your desktop settings.
To restore ability to change your desktop settings and select a different wallpaper and screen saver do the following:
Start, run
type Gpedit.msc
Navigate to User configuration, Administrative Templates, Control Panel, Display
Right click on Remove Display in Control Panel
Click on Properties and select Disabled
Do the same steps to change the following attributes to disabled:
Hide Desktop Tab
Prevent changing wallpaper
Hide Apperance and Themes tab
Hide Settings tab
Hide Screen Saver tab
You should now be able to use your computer normally and change the wallpaper to something other than the warning message Antivirus XP 2008 set it to.

Antivirus XP 2008 is a rogue anti-spyware program that displays false and exaggerated scan results. Thankfully, though, there is a totally free way to remove this program.
Please visit this page and follow the guide in order to fully remove this program and any related malware:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/malware-removal/re...
Please note that many of the answers to your question state that you should download and install Xoftspy or Spyhunter. Both of these programs only scan your computer and do not remove anything for free. They are only being shown in order for the poster to make a commission. Instead only use programs that do not require you to purchase them in order to remove found infections. The guide above includes a program that will remove this infection entirely for free.
Also, do not use combofix or vundofix as they should only be used under supervision of trained helpers.

Hi Punk...
It's not always so much about WHAT you use, but HOW you use it when it comes to removing this infections. The best guide I can recommend to help you is at http://myslowpc.co.uk/ (click on "Troubleshooting"). It covers all of the tools you may need to get rid of spyware, adware, malware (and viruses/trojans). It also importantly explains the best approach to do so, e.g. when/how to use Safe Mode, to turn off System Restore so the infection is not restored.
The guide also explains advance steps such as creating a bootable "live" CD so your Windows files are not locked and infections can be removed as well as how to slave your hard drive so the OS isn't running.
I hope the above helps, please post back and let me know - good luck!

You were probably infected by XP Antivirus 2008 (rogue anti-spyware program) either by a Trojan infection such as Trojan.Vundo, Zlob.Trojan or a malicious website. Try a free removal application, such as SmitFraudFix.

Hi there,
Cleaning the register is a good way of improving the performances of your pc and eliminate malwares and trojans. A program I trust is CCleaner http://bitly.com/1sW29LX
It's a must have program.

Good answer above.
I would also add that the program seems to use a random string of characters and letters for filenames - so you will not always be looking for the same filenames quoted above!
