I work around alot of women in a daycare center, I am a cook there and have a difficult time with small talk?

I just do not know what to say to people and am not good at conversation. I just like to work and do my job which is a good thing but I would at least like to know what to say to break the ice, I am the new kid on the block, I just started working there. The last cook was very talkative and had a real gift for gab, yet she did her job very well. She is a hard act to follow... any advise???

I am the same exact way as you. I am not good at small talk and just like to get the job done. The only thing I can advise that I do, is just learn one or two small things about each person that you can ask about. Like, "hey, how are your kids doing?" or "how is the new puppy?" Little questions like that should start to grow into other conversations are therefore other things to talk about. And there's always the tried and true, "How about the weather?" I still use that a lot. Hope this helped!

I also work in a day care and sometimes it is hard to start a conversation while you are working especially as a cook. But the best thing is to just start off by saying hi or good morning, how are you today? And the conversation will just take off from there.
