Scientists distancing themselves from the teaching of evolution. I'd heard many are fleeing the sinking ship.

Does anyone have some names of prominent scientists that fit this trend?

Update:

I was making no assertion, I am following up what I heard- seeing if there is any documentation available.

Update 2:

Mila30s link- I guess some people are going to have to eat some crow pretty quick, huh?

SEATTLE — Over 600 doctoral scientists from around the world have now signed a statement publicly expressing their skepticism about the contemporary theory of Darwinian evolution. The statement, located online at CSC - Center for Science and Culture, reads: “We are skeptical of claims for the ability of random mutation and natural selection to account for the complexity of life. Careful examination of the evidence for Darwinian theory should be encouraged.”

The fastest growing segment of the list is scientists from outside the United States. International scientists now represent just over 12% of all signers, and as a group has seen nearly 40% growth in the past four months.

“I signed the Scientific Dissent From Darwinism statement, because I am absolutely convinced of the lack of true scientific evidence in favour of Darwinian dogma,” said Raul Leguizamon, M. D., Pathologist, and a profess

    Don't get your hopes up:

"4. Increasingly, scientists doubt the truth of evolution.

No evidence suggests that evolution is losing adherents. Pick up any issue of a peer-reviewed biological journal, and you will find articles that support and extend evolutionary studies or that embrace evolution as a fundamental concept.

Conversely, serious scientific publications disputing evolution are all but nonexistent. In the mid-1990s George W. Gilchrist of the University of Washington surveyed thousands of journals in the primary literature, seeking articles on intelligent design or creation science. Among those hundreds of thousands of scientific reports, he found none. In the past two years, surveys done independently by Barbara Forrest of Southeastern Louisiana University and Lawrence M. Krauss of Case Western Reserve University have been similarly fruitless.

Creationists retort that a closed-minded scientific community rejects their evidence. Yet according to the editors of Nature, Science and other leading journals, few antievolution manuscripts are even submitted. Some antievolution authors have published papers in serious journals. Those papers, however, rarely attack evolution directly or advance creationist arguments; at best, they identify certain evolutionary problems as unsolved and difficult (which no one disputes). In short, creationists are not giving the scientific world good reason to take them seriously."

the position do we leap deliver to? Have a higher u . s . a . in mind? Nah, i will look ahead to the bucks provide way, an extra desirable oil shortage and risky healthcare to screw the country over so undesirable that theres entire civil unrest and a kind of "standard decision" to go back to a call on whos left. My bets are on the republicans who've guns. The mormons will maximum regularly make it by using way of too by using very incontrovertible actuality that all of them inventory for a million year of no food.

    Fortunately, no prominent names, no.

But, you know, if prominent scientists were to actually abandon the theory, they would be doing because of convincing data that contradicts our understanding of evolution. As we all know, not a shred of evidence currently exists that contradicts it.

I believe a question was just asked about this. The question was pertaining to "Why do people lie about scientific principles."

Do you have any evidence to back up that assertion?

    You heard wrong.

Source(s): The Center for Science and Culture (CSC), formerly known as the Center for Renewal of Science and Culture (CRSC), is part of the Discovery Institute, a conservative Christian think tank[1] in the United States. And let me guess, these 600 scientists were all staunch Christians. And how does 600 compare to all the scientists in the world? Try again, sparky.
