there are many factors to the current rise in gas prices. there is clearly, no one reason and clearly, no one solution will solve it.

one thing that i have been looking into is the issue of speculators making major contributions to the rise in prices and i truly believe that it is not a coincident that Geroge Soros is one of the largest speculators. he has long had an agenda to 'take over' America and turn it into another EU, with him at the helm. George Soros is working through the U.N. to negotiate a treaty that will ban private ownership of firearms on a worldwide basis. See Obama's bill S 2433 now pending in the Sendate in which we will be contractually bound to the UN's Millinimum Agreement.

we now compete gloabally for oil resources and we are going to have to be much smarter if we are to be successful. we need to start drilling immedidately, the news alone would force the price down with speculators and force the saudi to produce more oil as they don't want to lose out in the free market.

cutting back some on our usage is going to do little to change the price as other countries are increasing theirs. we need to be realistic and know that people may conserve a lit but they are not willing to give up their life style, their jobs, and etc.

JImmy Carter tried this and taxes, it failed then and it will fail now. Obama needs to learn some history instead of repeating it.

There was a farmer to told his neighbor he was training his mule not to eat. The neighbor asked how he was going to do that? Simple the farmer say I'll just feed him a little less each day until he doesn't eat any more.

A month later the two met and the neighbor asked was the farmer having any luck training the mule not to eat.

I use about 10 gallons of gas every two weeks getting back and forth to work. Now I'll be glad to cut that in half or not use any gas at all to get back and forth to work. But Obama is going to have to figure out a way to make that happen. I guess I could just quit working. But if I do how will I pay the bills.

Short term there is no solution. Long term expend the resource or develop other energy sources.

I would have to say yes, the whole so-called Democrat party is holding this nation hostage by raising taxes in the states they control, like gas and beverage tax, business tax, which is causing a food and gas shortage (the list is HUGH)......Their plan is to force our vote in their favor, Communism has taken over the true Democratic party, you know this is true when christian values are "Politically Incorrect'

They avoid important issues in the Senate and the house of Reps, just like they avoid answering very important questions that the American voters want to know with the help of M.S.M.

I understand the Liberal ways, I was raised in their ways and the states they control. Certainly not. Clinging to the Word of God, and one of our most basic civil rights, the Right to Keep and Bear Arms are about as American as you can get. This just goes to show how far removed from the American people candidates like Obama really are. Fifty years ago, the Department of Defense had a branch called the Director of Civilian Marksmanship. The function of this branch was to promote civilian familiarity and target practice. The DCM made avaliable to American citizens, surplus rlfles and pistols at very reasonable prices. In those days, most people in Washington saw an armed citizenry an asset to the nation. Look at the situation today. For the last forty years, politicians have been working to disarm the American people. They expel school kids for drawing a picture of a gun! They have propagandized millions of Americans to believe that they are safer when they are helpless. They tell people that a gun in the home would more likely be used against them, than a criminal! At the same time, we see the militarization of law enforcement: SWAT teams with automatic weapons and armored personnel carriers. Americans should be asking themselves, who are our politicians planning to use this firepower on. Read some of the founding documents of the Republic. There is almost constant reference to the Creator. The Declaration of Independence clearly states that we receive our Rights from our Creator, and no legitimate government can take them away. Can you imagine that being taught in a public (government) school today? Most of our politicians are little more than criminals. They have broken the oath they took to support and defend the Constitution, which they hold in contempt. They fear the American people (as only a criminal can) and seek to disarm us. They recognize no Creator. Instead, they would have us believe that THEY are the source of our RIghts. And to "protect us from terrorism", we need to give those rights up. I say they can go to hell.

This is what our politicians want. They want our standard of living lowered, so that we can comfortably merge with other nations into their New World Order.

This is nothing new. For decades we have been exposed to the propaganda: in the early Seventies, our lying politicians were telling us that we were running out of everything. They even created artificial shortages, by getting consumers to clean out the stores.

The plan is for us to relinquish our freedom for "security", and accept the idea that we have to live much more frugally, because of shortages. We have been sold more lies, like NAFTA, which was supposed to create jobs. Well, you see how many jobs NAFTA created! We have lost about 3 million.

Our politicians have worked to ship manufacturing jobs to Mexico, or China. Try to find a product that is made in the US. It is our own politicians who are destroying our economy. It is our own politicians who are destroying our freedoms. The greatest danger to our freedom and way of life is not coming from Iraq. It's not coming from Iran. It's coming from Washington, DC!

Uh, everyone with more than one functioning brain cell, who isn't in the pay of the oil companies can see that using less gas would be GOOD.

If it weren't for the morons who listened to those in the pay of big oil, we wouldn't be as dependent on oil today as we currently are, because all the people who aren't morons or in the pay of big oil have been saying for decades that we need to develop sane sources of energy.

The people who tell you Obama is "trying to bring" his own country "down" have been lying to you.

Instead of listening only to liars and morons, maybe you should consider listening to intelligent people of integrety once in a while.

Cutting demand helps but doesnt help a lot in itself because our population is always rising. Its just the LIBERAL answer to a question that bets fits their worldview.

And their worldview mainly is America needs to downsize. The rich need to be taxed, the poor need to be uplifted, and the middle class needs to I guess turn their thermostats down, stop driving, and change their lightbulbs, refrigerators, cars, or whatever else they deem a threat to the environment. The best long-term energy solution is efficiency and renewable energy;however, he said the fastest way to get the price down in the short-term is to curb manipulatory speculation.

And then McCain, who had opposed every measure to bring transparency back to the commodities markets up until that pronouncment and had voted for laws that allowed market manipulation, mulled it over for a couple of days, and then McCain reversed himself and said, "me too".

It's true, but that's a capitalists belief. The difference is the Market will determine who and what we drive 10 years from now.

BTW: Speculators are driving the price with a vengeance. Those who complain should look at their retirement portfolio before they do.
