Is keeping my laptop on the charger most of the time bad?

I have a newer lower end Toshiba Satelite, I use it mostly as a desktop and its always on the charger. Theres the odd day I take it off to carry with me. Is this bad for my laptop or charger?

Update:

Guys, I don't know who to believe lol. I'm always on it and it's always plugged in. Occasionally I use it off the charger and the battery lasts an hour and a half.

Not bad at all. I rarely use my Dell Laptop without the charger plugged in. It will definitely increase the life of your battery.

DO NOT REMOVE THE BATTERY !!

  • Your notebook battery likely has either a nickel-metal-hydride NiMH or Lithim-Ion battery. These types of batteries do not a memory like the older style Nickel-Cadium NiCad battery. You can leave the notebook PC connected to external power but beware that after one to two years even these newer batteries still degrade; after three or four or five years if you still like your notebook PC and begin to use it more as a battery powered portable you will likely have to purchase a new battery then, even though you did not really use up the life of the battery by cycling it. The other wearing-out is the repeated use charging and discharging of a battery - it is actually easier on the life of the battery to not be used so much. Keep it plugged in.

Yes it is, it may harm your battery life. The proper way is to charge your battery full at once and then use it completely, use charger only when its urgent to use. I had same problem in my Laptop then i bought a new battery.

take the battery out if you have it on A/C all the time and there wont be an issue. just put the battery in the laptop case...
