Depending on what county you live, there are services if you are on public assistance. If you are not on assistance, make a phone call to the county in which you live. You may be transferred or given additional phone numbers, but once you finally call the right number, just explain the situation and they should be able to help. You must provide them with a lot of information about your family composition and gather as much information about the absent parent as you can. Address, Social Security #, Phone number, etc...
After this paperwork is filled out, it will take months to get any results, but after it is in place, you will be happy you took care of it!

contact your local dept. of human services.they should be able to help. just remember sometimes these things are not easy and simple to solve.make sure you document when you called, who you talked to etc. (for your records)keep a pen and paper handy so you can go back to that info when you need it. be strong and smart, and professional even if you do not get the anwsers you are looking for......good luck!!!!!!!
