Which Book?
I need to choose a book for summer reading by July 1st. We have a list of books to choose from. I have narrowed down the list quite a lot, but now I am unsure. I would like some opinions about books from this list that you have read.
Title (Author's Last Name)
As I Lay Dying (Faulkner)
Catch-22 (Heller)
The Catcher In The Rye (Salinger)
1984 (Orwell)
I have read descriptions of each, but I want some other opinions on them before I choose. I don't want to end up stuck with a book I will never understand. Can I have your opinion on some of these books?
I have heard a lot of good reviews about Catcher in the Rye, and some bad ones. I had a friend that just read Catch-22 and recommended. I had never heard of the other two, but the names caught my eye on the list. When I looked up the discriptions, I liked them but wasn't 100% sure about them.
You guys are helping me a lot with my decision. Thanks so much!
I already looked up descriptions of these books on multiple websites. I liked the look of these four, but I wanted some human thoughts about them.
As of now, a lot of people have recommended "Catcher in the Rye". "Catch-22" is coming in second. Not many people like "1984", but I have had others tell me it's really good and I have to read it. And very few people have read "As I Lay Dying", and it's not that good.
Now you all really have me thinking...

They are all good. But I did NOT read 1984 (heard its good).
The Catcher in the Rye is an EASY read.
Catch-22 is a HARD read. The way he writes is sometime hard to follow/understand/relate to.
As I lay Dying is and OK read. Not my favorite.

1984 is too sci-fi ish. I would go for The Catcher in the Rye or As I lay here dying. Catch-22 doesn't sound that good either.

All of them are great books, to start out with. I would recommend reading all of them at some point. But for summer reading, if you want something a little bit lighter, a little easier to read, and a little easier to analyze, try Catcher in the Rye. I know many people who call it their favorite book, as it's humorous, easy to relate to, and kind of even fun to read!

without a doubt catcher in the rye. It leaves an impact on your thinking, and it may seem a little negative but its based on truth and the whats realistic. Definitely catcher in the rye i recommend.

Defaintely 1984. Catcher in the Rye for my second suggestion.
The book 1984 was so... just wow! I loved it! It did get a bit too descriptive at one part though that made me kinda of uneasy... Otherwise, it was an amazing book!

Catcher is a book about some sissy whining about everything. The book is just a 200 page long diatribe.
1984 is the best on that list.

The Catcher in the Rye.
That book is AMAZING :)
I had to read it last summer and I fell in love with it. As a matter of fact, I'm rereading it right now!
Holden Caufield is probably one of my favorite protagonists in all of the books I've read.
