Which equpment is used to capture NMR* and X-Ray images, format and print them?

The films showing body images taken by Nuclear Magnetic Ressonance or X-Ray machines have to be processed/saved by "some gear" which allows further formatting of selected images, that can be for instance, later pasted in order to be used in encyclopaedias and anatomy books. Which gear is that?

I don't know what equipment is used, but I've used JPG images from both MRI and X-ray, so I would guess that NMR images are also saved as JPG's. I got them once they were on CD's and they could be opened like any other image.

The CD's were made on massively expensive machines linked to the x-ray machine itself right there in the hospital, so I don't know what it is. I think our local hospital uses a set-up made by Phillips, but that's not telling you much.
