I dunno...do you live in apartment? In the city? In the
country? Are you active? Are you a domineering personality?.......Whats the best kind of dog???...So many questions for your personality, your activity level....my personality loves the lap dogs when Im watching t.v. and the herding breed when Im out on my ten acres.

There are different "calculators" out there on the Internet where you answer many questions about your lifestyle and, when you're finished, it will give you a list of breeds that, if you're logical, would be most in tune with your lifestyle.
My guess is you don't have much experience as a dog owner. If that is the case - it may be best to adopt an adult dog that is already house broken - one that is already past it's rambunctious-puppiness.
That may sound like you're missing the fun part - but if you're not ready for a puppy - that puppy may suffer if you give it away or drop it at the pound. If you do well with your adult dog - after a year you can bring home a puppy.
And you can also feel good about doing a wonderful thing. There are many adult dogs out there with no homes - and they will love you to pieces if you rescue them from the pound and give them a good home -- if you take care of them they will return the affection many times over.
Good luck.

It all depends on what kind of dog you're looking into. Small, medium, large, extra large dog. Active, semi-active, etc. Since I own one, and I'm kinda biased for that reason, I personally think Airedale Terriers are the best kind dog. They're loyal and compassionate dogs, although they can definitely be stubborn. They're comedians like most terriers and they will keep going no matter what to please you. Very, very intelligent dogs, but because they're stubborn, you'll need to work a bit more. But once they learn, they'll never forget. They can do just about anything other dog breeds can do, hunting, guarding, just a family dog, etc. I am absolutely in love with this breed. I can't picture myself without him!

Depends on the person! Some people are really active and should get an active dog (I have a Jack Russell, crazy little dog!!! She has to go on a few mile long walk everyday lol) and some people aren't and should get a more relaxed dog. As for me I like small-medium sized active dogs. Lap dogs are cute, but they don't really do much but bark and eat.
Lol see everyone has a different answer.

It will depend on your personality, your level of activity, your living situation, and a bunch of other things. I own a german shepherd but I look after 2 australian shepherds, 2 english sheep dogs, a boxer and a 57. All of the dogs have their own needs and personalities. They all need different levels of activity and different types of activities.
Your best bet if looking for a dog is to research the breeds and pick one that suits you and not one that looks cool in a spiked collar.

A Sydney Silky Terrier, they are so funny, and such great little lap dogs. You can take them anywhere but be careful as if they see something they want they just run for it (the terrier in them) but by and large they are the greatest companions and sooo faithful, very cute too - they really like their creature comforts though so best to have them inside of a night time, they like to curl up in front of the fire like a cat and you may wake in the morning to find something furry rubbing against your toes... it will be the silky terrier who has found her way (very sneakily) under your sheets and to the bottom of the bed all cosy by your feet (they lay at your feet to protect you).
