Has anyone gotten out of a cell phone contract by telling their provider that they were moving?

I need to get out of my contract with Sprint. I've been under contract for nearly a year. I've heard about people telling their provider that they were moving to a place that their provider didn't cover. HELP!

Update:

I paid the fee :(

Thanks for your help, though. I did not want to get in trouble with the law.

A lot of carriers will require proof of the move to waive the early termination fee (utility bill, lease agreement, etc). Possible to fake the documents, just be ready to do so if you try to lie. They will also likely want to change your address on file to your "new" address in order to send your final bill.

you could tell them that or tell them you dont get signal in your house, i have heard that works....but sprint is strict on their contracts especially if you have only been with them a year...you can always leave jsut pay the 200 cancellation fee..

ehh i wouldnt, they have documents and could take legal action, just pay the 200 cancellation fee. or just say you dont get any service in your house and maybe they let you go...
