Some people just dropped off 2 Guinea Pigs at PetSmart and me being the sucker that I am, went ahead and bought them a new starter kit and cage. What fresh fruits and vegetables can I feed them and how often?

Feed them a variety of vegetables that carry vitamin c. Try not to feed them too much calcium because this could cause digestion problems such as liver problems and kidney stones. If they are younger than 6 months, feed them alfalfa hay. But if they are older than six months, feed them regular timothy hay. Hay should be in their cage at all times. Always keep timothy pellets in the cage too. Stay away from colored pellets and seeds. They can choke on seeds and the colored " fruit " things in the meal are most likely not healthy for them.
I recommend you build a cube and coroplast cage. A c and c cage is cheaper and gives you the oppertunity to let them have a bigger cage. You can find cubes in the office department at Target for less than 15 dollars. Coroplast is just cardboard with a water proof coat of any color you pick. You can find coroplast at a local sign shop.
With a c and c cage, you can make it 2 stories or as big and wide as you want it to be. The cages that you buy at stores are what I like to call " glorified litter boxes " and doesn't give guinea pigs a wide place to run. Guinea pigs need to exersize all the time because it is very easy for them to become obese. After putting your piggies in the c and c cage, you will see your piggies personality change dramaticly. Here are some videos of how to build c and c cages:

Good quality Timothy Hay is of the greatest importance for proper gut motility and for tooth wear.
Good quality fresh pellets provide fiber and vitamins.
Fresh veggies can be given about few
large handfuls per pig per day.It will NOT cause diarrhea.Pigs will eat as much as they want and leave the rest.Romaine, kale ,cukes, parsley raw corn and corn husks,1/4 of an apple, couple of banana slices carrots and carrot tops, escarole are my pigs' favorites. No Alfalfa -no good at all.Causes bladder stones.

Stick with one brand of feed for your guinea pigs, it's not good to change their food a lot. And don't feed them too much fresh fruit and veggies, the water content could make them have diarrhea. Diarrhea in animals of their size, could cause rapid dehydration and possibly death. C=
Cabbage isn't good. A lot of lettuce isn't good, either.
Also--if it is a male and a female and they are from the sam litter, uhm---That's not really good. They won't recognize the fact they are related if they want to mate.
Good luck!

Timothy hay is great for them, also some pellets, and an orange slice every day because they can die without the Vitiman C....good luck to you

You can feed them spinach, apples, oranges, bananas (if you can get your guinea pig to eat them), cucumbers, green peppers, carrots, timothy hay and green beans. But stay away from the cabbage family.

Just buy them "Veggi Bites!!" this is a cheap food that can be bought at any pet store. it has every veggi in the book in it and its the healthiest thing that you can give to your guinea pigs.
Also, if you didnt want them, why buy them? they would be just as happy with some other loving owner that ACTUALLY WANTS THEM... well, good luck anyways!

Instead of giving them vegetables you can give them leaves. Make sure it does not have any pestisides on it.
