Need some advise for Losing Weight?

So I'm a 21 female, I'm 5'4 and weigh 144ish, and I would really like to get down to about 130. I have been using the Wii Fit consistently since its release (about a month and half), I've been eating healthy and less, but I've really only lost 3 pounds. The first 3 weeks or so I did an hour everyday, but since then I've backed down to 30 minutes, about 5-6 days a week. I switch my routine up every so often so my muscles don't get used to it, and I do strength exercises, some yoga, and jogging and step arobics.

I feel tired and sore after my workouts, and I have noticed my stomach getting somewhat flatter, but I can't seem to lose any more weight. I don't eat many starchy foods anymore, or if I do, very small portions, if I need a snack, I get something low healthy. I can't eat 5-8 servings of veggies and fruits everyday like people suggest because of my living situation. I feel like I'm trying hard, but I'm getting no results. Does anyone have some advise for me to lose these pounds?

Update:

Thanks for all the great responses! I did stop drinking soda and sweet tea awhile ago, and have only been drinking water. And I have been eating wheat bread too. I was getting upset and thinking of getting a diet pill, but you guys have inspired me to keep trucking. Thanks a lot!

To achieve any weight loss, you really need to excercise and eat an overall healthy diet that consist of complex carbohydrates (whole wheat foods that would be great for fiber and needed nutrients), lean protein to help build muscles and repair your body, and good amounts of fat for energy and needed nutrients the body needs that your body cannot create on its own.

By making a few adjustments to your current diet (such as switching to water in place of juice and soda, etc, snacking on fruits and raw veggies instead, chosing whole grain products instead of enriched foods, etc) can also help you to shed some weight (depending on how your current diet is). Also cooking healthier (using a cook spray, switching to olive oil, grilling and steaming more often than pan frying and deep frying, etc.) And to help lessen your sweets consumption, try at least limiting yourself to only 2 or 3 a day. And try having healthier sweets like yogurt, all fruit frozen bars (some are only 90 calories each, and with calories so low, that a treat you could possible have each day), jello, 90 calorie or lower pudding cups, fruit, and low calorie ice cream bars (such as skinny cow, weight watchers, etc.)

If you try interval cardio training and some weight lifting/resistance training, not only will you lose weigh, but you will also help your body become more leaner and tone looking and your core will become stronger.

Try doing some ab work and don't forget to work out your obliques (your "love handles")

Also because muscle does weigh more than fat, you may be heavier essentially, but leaner too. Eventually the more muscles you will build, the more weight you can burn. More muscles will help you burn more calories at rest. And then eventually the fat/weight will come off... but everything takes time. Remember, it is possible to be leaner and stronger, but weight more. But don't give up and stay motivated... we all hit plateus. Also remember, that every one is a different individual and that we all lose weight from different places at different times. Your body choses when it is time, just be patience.

And please note that if you try to lose a lot of weigh in a short amount of time, your body will really go through some health problems. Some risks could be that your hair may grown thinner, your periods may not be regular anymore (which is not a good thing), and your stomach system will be working slower, etc.

Realistically, if you lose weigh the heathy way, then 1 to 2 pounds per week is a reasonable amount per week. Anything more, may be due to water loss or you have decided to go the other route and lose weigh by starving yourself.

Remember that the number on the scale doesn't define you... you define you. The scale can't tell you how great you look in your jeans or how you feel... so don't rely so heavily on that scale. Our bodies's weight constantly fluctuates all the time... so it isn't always so reliable.

Stick with it! Start to pay attention to how your clothes are fitting, not just the numbers on the scale. Depending on how active you were before this, you may be dropping a lot of "fat weight" in exchange for "muscle weight". A solid workout should consist of stretching before hand, a good cardio workout (at least 30min) then stretching, strength training afterward (ie abs, or a few quick pilaties moves).

Make sure you are drinking plenty of water- just water. Or- lemon water- add lemon concentrate to water. Many "sports drinks" contain a LOT of calories and sugar that your body won't break down unless you really are working out for 3 straight hours.

Other food options. Smoothies with a scoop of protein drink powder of your choice. The protein powder will help fill in some of the vitamins and minerals your body isn't getting and will prevent you from over compensating by eating something unnecessary. Smoothies: You should be able to make 4 smoothies (8oz) from 1 can juice concentrate, 1 bag frozen berries, and bananas. That should take care of a lot of your fruit needs and fill you up for a while. Also, look into high protein meals.

Weight Watchers!! I do it on my own without even having to pay for it and it is working GREAT! I have lost 35lbs in just a little over 2mths. One Thing to remember is that when you lose the weight slow, it is healthier, you keep it off longer, & you have less hanging skin!! You can find a points finder on the web and all you have to do is keep track of what you eat each day! It works by figuring fiber, calories & fat of each food you eat. You are allowed so many points based on your weight. I know it sounds difficult, but it is actually pretty easy and it really works! Good luck!

Whatever you think 3lbs is an achievement! It is surely better than putting on weight.

You say you 've noticed your body changing - maybe it would be better to measure yourself and measure inch loss rather than weight! Weight can fluctate depending on what you have eaten the day before and what time of day it is so its not always accurate.

Your exercise routine seems good, do you still get out of breath doing it? Maybe you have increased your CV fitness and therefore need to step up the effort to keep getting your results?

I was 145 after being on the depo shot and I only ate a foot long sub from subway any kind with whatever i wanted on it, a bag of chips and drank whatever I wanted, and I got down to 120 I never exercised!

I have recently had body wraps done to release toxins in your body and lost 17 1/2 inches, went from a size 5/7 to being able to wear anywhere between a 4-5.

keep going! the weight doesn't always come off at the beginning and you've gotta give it a chance you'll probably start to see results in a few more weeks if you keep it all up... don't give up! if your stomachs flatter that's something, just keep healthy and keep going!
