How do I convince my mom (picture inside)...?
...to let me get a snakebite piercing? I'll be 16 in two weeks and for my birthday I want just one stud on my left side under my lip, I don't even want both! She claims that if I get it done that no adult will take me seriously, for instance at job interviews, and all they'll see is "another irresponsible teenager" which is completely untrue because I am in all accelerated and AP classes that I could be taking. I don't even need a job, I babysit for this lady and make much more than I'd be making for minimum wage. How can I convince her to let me get it done? And do you think I'd look good with it? You can use my avatar for reference or this picture:

Thanks!

Unfortunately your mom is right about the "irresponsible teenager" part. I graduated 1 1/2 years earlier than I was supposed to because I worked my butt off and took all the AP classes I could. I'm now going to start college in August, and am trying to find a nice part-time job that will help with gas money. Everywhere I go to get hired, they think I'm a knocked up teenager or a drop out. Even if I spell it out to them they are like "well, we prefer to hire those who don't have a lot of... responsibilities to take care of. You know, getting called out of work because someone is sick or whatnot."
It only was multiplied when I got my nose pierced. Even the college people who were looking at my transcripts said almost the exact same thing. I had to have them check the hospital records to prove that I had no children. I had to take like 5 drug tests to prove I wasn't on drugs.. It's just rediculous out there these days.
My advice? Wait just a little bit longer (or until you have secured a nice job) before you get it done. That way you won't have to deal with the same bull-crap that I've dealt with.

Sorry but your mom is right secondly stud in your lips can damage your teeth permantly, Also you have a very pretty face, let people see your smile which is beautiful and not let them focus on a cheap looking bit of steel sticking out of your lip. remember when you meet some one new they will judge you on the first impression they have of you, and within the first 30 seconds of seeing you. That is way before you can tell them about any of your achievements and AP classes etc,
so let them see a pretty girl with a beautiful smile without the focus of the metal protruding out the lip. P.S. in a year or two you will be able to have it done with or without mom's permission. - Good luck

honestly, i don't see what the big deal is with piercings. i have 15, and have hever had a problem getting any job at all.i had my snakebites (both) done when i was 15, and since then, i have gotten 2 jobs, plus a coop at a high end salon, where it was all upper class people. no one had a problem, just put a cute stud in, and itll look perfect :)

Chances are, you probably will grow out of the lip piercing stage. My advice would be to show her pictures of pretty girls with their lip pierced. If you put a stud in it, it'll look fine, but with a ring in it, in my opinion, i think it looks trashy. Put in a small little stud, and most likely people won't even notice. If you do decide to get another job, for job interview, you can always wear a retainer for your piercing.

Your mom is actually right... but I do think you'd look cute with one :] Wait until your 18 and you can do what you want, then you'll be more experianced in the job area.

I agree with your Mother. If you want people to think your a serious person and respects yourself, then don't decorate your body with piercing. There is a moderate level and one that is too extreme. Listen to your Mother, I think she knows what she is talking about.

I have to agree with your Mom.
She doesn't
want you to do something as a teen that you may regret later on.
You will be 18 in two years. Wait until then.

i think your mom has a point you are a [retty girl and should not think of doing that. And adults will think off of you unresponsible. I would thimk twice about it.
