do you know how to speed up your heart rate without physical activity?
I can speed up my heart rate to over 200 bpm without physical exertion, heavy breathing or even thinking stressful thoughts. Is there anyone else out there that can do this?

It's called bio-feedback. I'm pretty good at it myself. It has more applications than heart-rate even, the most notable of which is pain reduction.

Why would you want to?
Tachycardia can be harmful in three ways. First, if the heart is pumping too fast for an extended period of time it will change the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the hemoglobin in the blood; this is normal during exercise but when resting this is quite dangerous. Second, when the heart beats too rapidly, it may pump blood less efficiently as there is less time for the myocardium to relax between contractions. Third, the faster the heart beats, the more oxygen and nutrients the heart requires. This may leave patients feeling out of breath or cause angina in those suffering from ischemic heart disease.

I went to the hospital for something, and they took my heart rate, then wouldnt let me leave when i I had the all clear coz my heart was beating too fast. I was 120, and they reckon thats a sign of internal bleeding or something, eventually they let me go when they took my bp and kept a watch on me.
