Southern accent help? Ten points!?

Hey, everyone!

Now, please don't think me an ignorant Yank for asking this question, but I really am curious. Of course I can tell the difference between a Southern accent and a Northern one (I can even differentiate between Northwest, Midwest and Northeast) but I have a doozy of a time trying to tell people's Southern accents by state! If someone could be kind enough to break down how each state pronounces certain words, or what are some telltale signs that someone is from "x" state judging by how they talk or which words they use for different things, I'd really appreciate it. And would be more than happy to dish out a cool 10 points!

Thanks!

A New Yorker

srry but youd never be able to tell the diff state by state..im from the south and the only differences you can hear is as you go further down the thicker the accent accept FL which is mixed with everything. youll also find in cities ppl have mor of a drawl then a accent which make em easier for others to understand

    Source(s): from the south

I don't think you'll be able to differentiate between all southern states... I'm in Texas and we Texans don't all have a cohesive accent.

But for fun, a few common TX grammar rules:

    -Y'all= you all

-use of contractions with more than one apostrophe (ex. can't've)

    -coke= any kind of soda

    -aight= all right

    -speech is slow and deliberate

-syllables are added to short words and taken away from longer ones (ex. probly= probably, cay-unt= can't)

the blokes' names sound suitable. Elle will be quick for any call that starts with 'El-', and the finest hit upon of Fawn appears like one a Mary Sue would have so i'd change it. i'd also no longer have her nickname be Bambi, because of the very incontrovertible actuality that that call is likely linked with Playboy gadgets, strippers, and females who're Very stupid and regardless of the indisputable fact that worry-free. If there's a fabulous rationalization for her nickname to be Bambi, equivalent to operating as a lot because the tele at the same time as she replaced right into a touch baby and yelling 'do no longer die!' or telling her mothers and fathers she wanted Bambi the deer for Christmas/her birthday, that would properly be suitable. if it really is purely because of her very last call, regardless of the indisputable fact that, she needs one extra nickname--one it truly isn't any longer deer-linked. What Charlie/Chase's very last call and Elle's finished call should be is definitely as a lot as you. you may search for baby naming cyber web web pages on-line or get a touch one call e book from a bookstall.
