Protect your skin...be vigilant about putting on sunscreen. You don't want to look like a wrinkled old brown hag when you are 35. If you want a tan get some lotion bronzer or something. Even with sunscreen you will probably get burned.

You can`t, Tan skin IS sun damage. Either use a fake tanner, or put on a Light sunscreen, to help minimize the damage.

Sorry, you will not get a safe tan. I'm so pale I almost glow in the dark. With very dark hair and blue eyes, I have "skin cancer" written all over me. I finally realized that I will never, ever get a safe tan. As cliched as it sounds, accept your skin tone and make it look its best by ALWAYS wearing sunscreen, even in the winter. Get a big, wide hat, too.
If all else fails, remember that it wasn't THAT long ago that women would ingest arsenic to whiten their skin.

I always start out in a tanning bed, that way if I am gonna burn any I get it out of the way first. That way you get a good base tan, then you won't have to use such a strong sunscreen when you do go to the beach

get a tanning lotion, like austrailian gold, banana boat, try using a high proof. Don't just get sunscreen get tanning lotion or oil.. it protects you and you still get a nice glow.
my mom is the same way and i gave her that advice and it helped, she ended up doing it every time.

use some sunblock or sunscreen cream or lotion with highest SPF possible.. and people with more white or pale skin tend to burn more easily so watch out if you start to feel painful heat on your skin

get really strong sunscreen
that is the only thing you can do
