Michael Waltrip Question? 10 points to best answer!?

I dont know, it could be because he moved on from his DEI home and made his own team and brought in Toyota's, and started doing poorly. I honestly dont know for sure. I dont think it is because of what happened at Daytona but I could be wrong.

I love Michael Waltrip, he took a big gamble by starting MWR, that business at Daytona was some idiot on his payroll doing something stupid. Michael didn't have anything to do with that. He has a great personality, but who can call him a puppet?, Michael will show his a$$ every now and then (ask Casey Mears). Michael is good for the sport, good for racing, and as to the comment that he made DJ look bad, David Reutimann was finishing higher than DJ, the sad truth is DJ held on a little too long, I like him but that is the truth. And as far as the Toyota thing goes, I have said this before, look up where the other three makes are actually made, the Camry is made my fine people who work hard down in Kentucky. (Mikey's home state!)

I often ask the same question. I don't see any real reason fans should be giving Mikey a difficult time. I just wonder if there was more of a falling out at DEI after Sr wasn't there anymore.

These days he has to wear so many hats that his personality does seem a bit darker. I do miss the good 'ol days with he and Jr on the top of that car waving to all the folks in the stands. Still brings a tear....

Some people just don't like his personallity. He lost some popularity when he left DEI. There is something that folks call the Earnhardt factor. When any driver was a friend to , or driver for Sr. or Jr. , they are well liked during that time. So, DEI was Mikey's peak. I think some Jr. fans feel like Mikey hung Jr. out to dry a few times while they were still teamates and are still upset about that. Then there is the Toyota thing. A lot of people resent the fact that Mikey helped them come into the sport.

I like him okay.

Seems to me like he's disliked because he's an abysmal driver to some but still hangs around the sport, picking up major sponsors while teams like Yates are sitting with none. If it wasn't bad enough for him, that Rocket Fuel at Daytona thing was the nail in the coffin.

I don't have a problem with him, but that's why I feel people don't like him.

I dont like Mikey because he seems like a Nascar puppet. He is always kissing their behinds big time. Every decision Nascar makes is the greatest decision ever. Everything they do is the greatest thing ever. Every rule change is the greatest thing ever. But when I heard him defend Nascar for throwing bogus cautions late in races, that was my last straw. Funny guy though!

I don't dislike Mikey. I never saw anyone say anything hateful towards him. Mikey is one of those drivers who used to be good. Not anymore. He rarely finishes a race on the lead lap and more times than not he wrecks...himself and others.

I don't know, he is just one I don't think "winner" when I think of him.

i don't like or disslike Mikey. he does do some good NAPA commercials. but i think he just don't have it anymore. and he hardly makes it thought a race anymore there are more driver that would at least not wreck the car alomst every race. he need to worry about been a owner and where his team is at in the points.

I like Michael Waltrip, just not as a driver. His driving style has never thrilled me. But, as he has proven with his NAPA commercials, he can even laugh that off. Anyone who can go through the crap he's been through, and make fun of himself for it, is definitely a class act. Sorry this doesn't answer your question, but I just wanted to get it out.

Because he is a trader just like Joe Gibbs. NASCAR is an American sport born here and he helped bring Toyota in. He sucked at DEI and he sucks now Toyota knows that. Thats why they went after Gibbs. Anybody associated with Toyota can kiss my butt.
